Description
- Grant projects support the survey, inventory, and designation of historic properties that are associated with communities currently underrepresented in the National Register of Historic Places and among National Historic Landmarks
- Projects must result in the submission of a new nomination to the National Register of Historic Places or National Historic Landmark Program, or an amendment to an existing National Register or National Historic Landmark nomination to include underrepresented communities
Who Can Apply
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- County governments
- State governments
- City or township governments
- Special district governments
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
Additional Eligibility Requirements
In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act as amended, 54 USC §300101, this funding opportunity is limited to:State Historic Preservation OfficesTribal Historic Preservation Offices, Federally-recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Villages/Corporations, and Native Hawaiian Organizations, as defined by 54 USC § 300309, 54 USC 300313 and 54 USC 300314Certified Local Governments (list provided at http://go.nps.gov/clg )Nonprofit, tax-exempt U.S organizations, with or without 501©(3) designationNEW for FY2023- The Underrepresented Communities grant program is now open to nonprofit organizations
